Day 2 - Longreach

Wake up to a country style breakfast basket, full of locally produced goodies.

This morning we take a trip to Darr River Downs Station which spans 55,000 acres in the heart of Outback Queensland, and was established in 1873.

Once one of the largest pastoral stations in the region, it now runs merino sheep and beef cattle. Join graziers Fiona and Paul for an immersive tour through the property's rich history, exploring original sandstone buildings, iconic landmarks, and a fascinating onsite museum. Following the tour enjoy a delicious home-baked country style morning tea.

We then head back to Longreach for a private lunch at the Bruce Yeates Cottage. The cottage is a stunning sandstone structure built by RM Williams in the early 1980s, holds a rich history, from its association with Dr. Bruce Yeates, the first Chairman of the Stockman's Hall of Fame, to its unique construction using stone from Leander Station and marble slabs from Marble Bar, with Slim Dusty laying the first stone. Soak in your surroundings as you indulge on a two course gourmet lunch incorporating local produce, along with premium beverages in this exclusive lunch for your group.

Your day then continues to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame where you will explore the five themed galleries and watch the impressive Cinematic Experience before returning to Mitchell Grass Retreat for some rest and relaxation. The 20-minute immersive film features the birth of a nation through the eyes of the Australian stockman.

Your outback evening will begin with the iconic Longreach experience - a sunset cruise on a top-deck with 360-degree views. As you cruise this stunning outback waterway at sunset, you will be engrossed in the changing colours of the skyline at Sunset Bend before docking at Smithy’s for a classic outback evening of live music, quirky stories and a delicious two-course camp oven dinner, under the

stars.
